It’s time for another installment of “Random Acts of Letter Writing“! (These are quickly becoming my favorite pasttime!)
Our “victim” this time will be Richard B. Griffin, prolific columnist, who has recently written an article about letter writing for Wicked Local Cambridge. In this article he speaks of writing letters to his friend Bob, but also mentions the father of essayist Anne Fadiman who said, “the morning mail functions as the voice of the unpredictable and keeps alive for a few minutes a day the keen sense of the unplanned and the unplannable.”
So, let’s be inspired by this. Go read his article, then go forth and help Mr. Griffin keep alive the keen sense of the unplanned. He can be reached at:

Just so none of you think I’m a big, creepy stalker… his phone number is on his web page and his address is easily searchable in the online white pages and I matched the two up. I think someone who puts his phone number on his web site probably isn’t too worried about someone like me finding him.

Will do! What a great idea!
Thank you for dropping by my blog! I want to tell you on writing to inmates– I have inspired a few to pick up a brush with my envelope art. It’s not my “masterpieces” that inspire them– it happens when I have been writing for a while, they have seen my good work, and then something doesn’t quite work on a piece, but I send it anyway. Then I get a note, “I realized that you don’t always get it right, so I tried it!” and they do art work back. It’s really exciting when the letter writing and art spreads. If I ever write a best seller on mail art, I hope my editors will let me do workshops in prisons. Inmates are the very best pen-pals “EVAR”! <3

No way I can resist writing to someone who writes for anything “wicked local.”
PostMuse’s last blog post..Conversations
Did you see the article in today’s New York Times about Donna Reed and her letters to and from GI’s during WWII?
It’s great!
Natalie’s last blog post.."I’ve Missed You So Much"
I do love your Random Acts of Letter Writing. I am definitely going to start participating in July. However, I’m mostly commenting because I noticed over a link: “Please go vote… don’t let the knitters win!
” What do you got against knitters?
I love doing these Random Acts. Thanks for finding our “victims” My letter went out today.
Everyone: Thanks you guys for doing this. Even though I know ahead of time who it’s going to be you always STILL beat me to the punch. Oh, I need to be more organized!
Natalie, thanks for the heads up… I will check it out.
Stephanie, I have nothing against knitters in general unless they get in my way of world domination. They they must be subdued and sent packing!
LOL, I doubt they’ll mind as long as you send them off somewhere with lots of sheep, spinning wheels, and needles. I don’t think they’re trying to get in your way anyway.
Oh, you underestimate them with their diabolical ways and their sharp little knitting needles that go click click click. They are TOTALLY trying to top letter writers. Okay, actually last time I looked it was a tie with a whopping four votes. LOL. That’s why I had to start begging.
What? How can I underestimate them? I’m sort of one of them!
Hah! Four votes? Okay, I tried to go vote and it wanted me to log in first. I think that’s the problem. I don’t want to sign up for everything on the planet!
LOVE letter Writing …. E-mails are not ‘the same’ thrilled others agree!!!
I got a thank you letter today from our last RALW “victim”.
I also got a thank you letter from Richard Griffin. It was a very nice letter.
What a surprise! I received a nice note from our last victim, Nigel Alston today.
I wrote Richard as well and received a nice note from him today.
