I am VERY excited to announce our first giveaway. Hopefully the first of many!
For our first giveaway, I am honored to be partnered up with Elizabeth Levi of Blue Chair Studio.
Elizabeth has lived a full and varied life. She grew up in Iowa, headed West for a while, became a wife, a mother, an artist and then the pendulum swung back, landing her back in Iowa after a long road of adventuring.
Elizabeth’s style is colorful and carefree. She finds inspiration in art supplies and found objects of every medium. Her philosophy is that people should not be so quick to judge themselves when they’re making art or to give up too soon on their creativity. She thinks an artist is “a person who is willing to put fear in their pocket while they waltz with mistakes and polka with problems, and then frame the mistakes that come out just right.” What a great attitude!
And so without further adieu, here is the info about our giveaway! Elizabeth has been kind enough to offer a set of SIX lovely handmade notecards (seen below). These are printed on 80-pound cardstock, then hand embellished with paint, paper, ephemera and Elizabeth’s adorable stylings. All the cards are blank on the inside, but have varied messages on the outside: Hello (2), Congratulations, Get Well, Thank You, and Happy Birthday. A nice selection of colored envelopes are included for mailing.
Here’s how to play:
The winner will be chosen by random number generation. You can get multiple entries to increase your chances of winning. The list is below. The deadline to enter is May 15, 2009 at 11:59PM (central time). The drawing will be announced the next day and posted here.
For your first chance to win, go visit the Blue Chair Studio shop, browse around to find your two favorite items, then come back and leave a comment telling which were your favorites and why. In addition to listing your two favorite items, if you also post in the comment field what your favorite bookGoddess is, Elizabeth will send that to you if you turn out to be the winner.
For FIVE additional chances to win, you can do any of the following. Do as many or as few as you like. Or none. These are completely OPTIONAL:
- Subscribe to my RSS feed and leave a comment saying you’ve done so
- Make a post on your own blog about the giveaway and put a link to A Passion for Letter Writing and Blue Chair Studio then comment that you’ve done so
- Tweet about the giveaway on Twitter with a link to this post and then leave a comment with your Twitter ID and that you’ve tweeted it.
- Add A Passion for Letter Writing to your blogroll and leave a comment with your web address
- Make a purchase at Blue Chair Studio between now and the contest deadline and post a comment telling me what you’ve ordered. (One additional chance for each $10 spent.)
IMPORTANT: Please leave separate comments for each of the items you do because that’s how I’m keeping track of entries!
So, you can have up to a total of SIX chances to win. Good luck, everyone and enjoy. Whoever wins this one is LUCKY! The cards are so pretty and colorful. Really lovely.

My two favorite cards are the Happy Birthday card because of the instructions and the The great thing about you card because of the stamp on the front and the translucent envelope. My favorite bookgoddess is June Kaneko.
What a beautiful and fun shop Blue Chair Studio is! I browsed around, and my favorite items are:
1. “The Great Thing About You” art card because that is such a great sentiment!
2. The “Invisible Sun” mixed media art because it’s just a cool piece.
And, my favorite bookGoddess is “Deena MacRae: An Outlander Bookmark” because she is a great Goddess and my sister’s name is Deena.
Thanks, Wendy, for sharing this shop with us!
Carla’s last blog post..What’s missing in our lives due to e-mail
Fantastic shop! I love the book goddesses, and ZinGara is my favorite gal. True Kubah is also wonderful with her peaceful bohemian style.
This is so nice of you! How exciting … and Ms. Levi’s work is fabulous!
My two favorite pieces are: 1) Invisible Sun … it is a feast for the eye, full of color and interesting shapes. I get lost in it. 2) Two Columns … the colors and shapes remind me of the forest. It’s serene and comforting!
All of the book goddesses are beautiful … it’s so hard to choose just one. Connie Kumar does speak to me, though, with her calm expression … somewhat like Kuan Yin … suggesting inner peace.
I’ve got to bookmark this shop … I see some potential gifts there!
Thanks!

I love the art cards, I am always looking for unique cards to send people and the cards at blue chair are just my style. My favorite BG is Allegro Vivacci – a bookGoddess on the wild side. She is so much fun, but I think she will keep me from reading my book. LOL.
I love “A Letter” and “ARTCard-Japanese” because of the wonderful use of negative space and excellent contrasts. What a wonderful shop!
Adding “Passion For Letter Writing” to my blogroll.
okay….first of all, what wonderful bookmarks and cards are in that shop!! I looked about and really love the birthday card with the cake on it and the Love is the glue art card…so fun!! I will add you to my blog roll…you know where i am….
jean Zoss’s last blog post....free treats…please scroll past this post for current posts
Jean Zoss, I’m adding this extra comment for you since you did the blogroll. I need each “chance” entry on a separate comment for the random number generator thing.
So, consider this your additional entry!
Also… everyone don’t forget to post your favorite bookGoddess in case you’re chosen to win!
Everything is so colorful and interesting, it’s hard to choose. But since I must, I’ll go with the Japanese Lanterns card, very dramatic, and the Love Is The Crazy Glue card because of the sentiment. Favorite book goddess: Bailey Ree. She has great hair. Honorable mention to the Happy Fun Earflap hat, if I was younger would love to wear it.
Invisible Sun and the Popcorn art card! I love mixed media and Blue Chair does it so well! I get so many people commenting on the Blue Chair piece in my living room!

I’m pleased to announce my favorite cards:
1. Love is the Glue – Such a simple and super sweet sentiment (how’s that sentence for alliteration!)
2. I Checked the Want Ads – I love looking at card and knowing how good they’ll make someone else feel. This is one of those!
My Kindred Goddess: Ivy Zhou You –I can honestly say I’ve never had a bookmark that watched over me. This one would. She looks enlightened and serene—as would anyone who is reading.
Okay, so Passion for Letter Writing is already part of my blog roll. I’ll blog about the giveaway momentarily AND I’ll tweet about it soon. Will let you know when I do. Thanks Wendy!

Thank you for hosting this! “Island News ARTcard” is my very favorite of all the wonderful cards.
And I also love”flowers of love ARTcard.”

I am glad there is sort of a while before the deadline, because I’ve been too swamped to look at everything. I am so excited about this! I hope to get more than one entry in before the 15th. Although I admit, the one about adding to my feedreader — well, I like checking A Passion for Letter Writing really often and if I’ve added it it takes the fun out of checking by!
